It is a smart reversal of the creator’s usual approach, and the premise becomes more interesting once the steaks emerge with different levels of dryness, aroma and texture despite the featured ingredients never directly touching the meat.

The setup gives each chamber a clear identity. Binchotan charcoal is expected to create a relatively clean, restrained result, while the salami-inspired chamber uses Greek yogurt alongside the cured meat environment. Koji rice and honey form another chamber, and blue cheese supplies the final, deliberately aggressive environment. Explanations about charcoal, molds, enzymes, fermentation and preservation give viewers a reason for each choice, although several scientific-sounding claims are presented conversationally rather than demonstrated within the experiment itself.

After a week, the physical differences provide the first convincing indication that the environments matter. The charcoal steak is described as drier and texturally changed, while the koji rice appears to have pulled away the most moisture. The salami chamber transfers a pronounced cured-meat aroma, and the blue-cheese environment produces the strongest smell while reportedly reducing the steak’s moisture by roughly 25 percent.
