Garten of Banban NEW UPDATE is Terrifying!!

Revisiting the opening chapter works partly because the creator remembers just enough to recognize familiar beats without being able to predict every detail. The original progression remains recognizable: collect key cards, control the drone she nicknames Waffle, gather eggs for Opila Bird, solve the character-color puzzle, survive the chase, and descend toward the next chapter. Much of the early playthrough therefore feels less like discovering a transformed game and more like searching for evidence of what has changed. Her unreliable memory becomes part of the comedy, though it also makes her initial comparisons uncertain because she frequently asks whether a note, object, or interaction was already present.

The more obvious additions give that familiar material extra personality. A Jumbo Josh fruit-and-vegetable minigame provides a goofy diversion, plushies scattered throughout the environment encourage exploration, achievements create new objectives, and the drone appears faster and more responsive. The creator is especially delighted that the playground slide can now actually be used, turning an extremely minor interaction into a recurring joke and eventually calling it the update’s best feature. These additions do not fundamentally reinvent the first chapter, but they make the environment feel more interactive and give returning players reasons to examine spaces they already know.

Achievements become more substantial when the creator decides to pursue them after reaching the normal ending. Pushing three objects into the ball pit sounds trivial but turns into a surprisingly aggravating physics challenge as objects refuse to move cleanly in the intended direction. The creator’s escalating frustration makes the sequence funny, although watching objects slowly get shoved across the room is not especially compelling gameplay on its own. More importantly, achievement hunting leads her toward the update’s hidden material, giving what initially appears to be a collection of novelty challenges an actual role in uncovering the new content.

Finding that content requires considerably more persistence. After another run, some outside guidance, and locating every plushie, a message draws the player toward the cafeteria vent. The creator also encounters a Jumbo Josh lounge through a linked secret before eventually activating the in-game route she is looking for. Once the vent opens, the episode changes dramatically. A concealed message references a facility concealment protocol and classroom panels, the screen becomes darker and grainier, and the familiar chapter begins behaving differently. The creator’s exaggerated commentary remains intact, but her uncertainty now works in the horror’s favor because she genuinely does not know which old sequence the game is about to disrupt.

The altered route is easily the strongest part of the update. Opila Bird no longer follows the expected behavior, familiar notes disappear, doors and key cards behave differently, and an unidentified creature suddenly appears before vanishing again. The creator becomes increasingly cautious precisely because the game uses her knowledge of the original chapter against her: areas that should contain known encounters no longer follow the expected script. The eventual discovery of a strange creature she nicknames Penny Penpig pushes the mystery further, particularly when it recognizes the player, warns about curiosity, refers to the journey ahead, and reacts selectively to the plushies. Captain Fiddles also appears to have some unexplained significance, leaving the creator with more questions than answers.

That mystery is effective as a teaser but limited as a self-contained payoff. The new creature, altered environment, missing notes, Captain Fiddles behavior, warnings, and apparent alternative path all suggest that the developers may be adding material intended to connect the original game more closely with later or future chapters. The creator openly speculates about those possibilities rather than claiming to know what they mean, which is appropriate because the episode does not establish an explanation. Her enthusiasm comes from the questions themselves: why this creature appears, what it knows about the player, why Captain Fiddles matters, and whether these additions are setting up something that will become important later. Viewers looking for definitive lore answers will therefore leave with very little resolution.

The presentation is at its best once the secret route begins, because the creator’s energetic style amplifies genuine uncertainty rather than compensating for familiar gameplay. Earlier sections repeat objectives from a chapter she has already played, and the hunt for eggs, plushies, achievements, and activation conditions creates stretches where progress is driven more by completionism than tension. Her constant jokes, nicknames, mock panic, repeated phrases, and exaggerated reactions will appeal most to viewers already comfortable with her style, while those primarily interested in a concise breakdown of the update may find the path to the important material unnecessarily long. Still, she ultimately demonstrates the standard chapter, several mechanical additions, achievements, the hidden activation process, and the altered route, making the episode a fairly comprehensive showcase of what caught her attention in the reworked game.

Pros

  • The secret route cleverly disrupts familiar chapter events, making returning players uncertain about encounters they previously understood.
  • New achievements, plushies, the Jumbo Josh minigame, improved drone behavior, and interactive slide give the original environment additional reasons to explore.
  • Collecting the plushies leads into substantially different hidden content rather than functioning only as an arbitrary collectible challenge.
  • The darker presentation, altered progression, unidentified creature, and Penny Penpig encounter create stronger tension than the largely familiar opening playthrough.
  • The creator treats her ideas about Captain Fiddles and the new creature as questions and theories rather than presenting unexplained lore as established fact.

Cons

  • Much of the first playthrough repeats familiar chapter progression before the update’s most meaningful additions become apparent.
  • The creator’s poor memory of the original makes it difficult for her to confidently distinguish some new notes, objects, and interactions from existing content.
  • Replaying the chapter, hunting missing plushies, and pushing objects into the ball pit add substantial time before reaching the strongest secret material.
  • The hidden route introduces intriguing lore questions but provides little explanation or resolution for the new creature, Captain Fiddles, or the warnings directed at the player.
  • Constant jokes, repeated phrases, and exaggerated reactions occasionally overwhelm what could have been a clearer comparison between the original chapter and its updated version.

The update becomes genuinely interesting once collectibles and achievements open a route that transforms a familiar chapter into something unpredictable, with altered encounters, unsettling presentation, and new mysteries suggesting a broader purpose behind the revisit. Repetition and an uncertain comparison with the original slow the journey there, but the creator’s persistence ultimately reveals enough new mechanics, polish, and hidden horror to make returning to Banban’s beginning worthwhile.
