The Vault Speed Build Is BACK!

Spine Chill and Windows of Opportunity give the returning vault-speed setup its defining twist, with each perk now providing a temporary 10% vault-speed increase under different conditions. Combined with Resilience and Finesse, the build is designed around squeezing extra value out of windows during chases rather than simply stacking permanent bonuses. The opening explanation establishes the relevant cooldowns and activation conditions efficiently, making it easy to understand what the matches are supposed to demonstrate.

The first match provides an encouraging showcase because the faster vaults are noticeable without making every escape automatic. A particularly quick medium vault gets an immediate reaction, but the chase still depends heavily on positioning, pallets and reading the killer’s movement. The eventual loss also helps the demonstration: the build creates opportunities, yet it clearly does not erase mistakes or guarantee survival.

PTB experimentation extends beyond the featured perks. The new communication menu lets survivors announce actions such as repairing a generator or going for an unhook, and the host quickly recognizes both its usefulness and its potential to become a distraction. That willingness to explore another change gives the gameplay additional relevance, although it also pulls attention away from the vault-speed premise for stretches of the match.

Later games are strongest when the perk setup becomes part of a larger chase strategy. Dracula encounters involve window timing, cutoffs, saves and attempts to manipulate the killer’s attention, while another match features Bamboozle directly complicating reliance on windows. These situations are more informative than simply demonstrating a faster animation because they show how the build functions when killers can block routes or refuse to commit to the chase the survivor wants.

The commentary is energetic and highly reactive, particularly during endgame rescues and close escapes. A two-survivor situation involving bots develops into an unexpectedly successful escape sequence, while another match ends with careful movement through the exit area. The downside is that some of these extended sections become general Dead by Daylight gameplay rather than focused testing, with generator pressure, hatch searching and rescue decisions sometimes receiving more attention than the perks themselves.

The Bubba match pushes that tendency furthest. The host’s playful interactions with the killer are entertaining, and his comments about the PTB environment and the map provide context for the unusually forgiving chase, but the segment becomes more of a personality-driven match than a controlled examination of vault speed. Even so, the decision to stop testing before the changes reach the live game is sensible: the presentation treats the PTB as an early opportunity to experiment rather than pretending these matches provide a definitive judgment on how the build will perform after release.

Pros

  • The opening clearly explains how the changed Spine Chill and Windows of Opportunity contribute to the vault-speed setup.
  • Several chases visibly put faster vaulting into practical situations rather than demonstrating the perks only in isolation.
  • Bamboozle, killer cutoffs and missed vault opportunities prevent the build from being portrayed as an automatic escape tool.
  • The PTB communication menu receives a useful hands-on demonstration alongside the main perk testing.
  • Energetic commentary makes lengthy chases and endgame rescue attempts entertaining.

Cons

  • Significant portions of the matches drift into general gameplay where the vault-speed build is no longer the main focus.
  • The testing is experiential rather than systematic, with no direct side-by-side comparison showing how much difference the combined bonuses make.
  • The Bubba match provides entertaining interaction but relatively limited additional evidence about the featured setup.
  • Frequent moment-to-moment reactions can obscure the more useful observations about perk activation, cooldowns and chase strategy.

The revived setup produces some genuinely entertaining chase moments while giving players a practical early look at how the changed vault perks can interact on the PTB. More controlled comparisons would have made the mechanical evaluation stronger, but the varied killers, counters and imperfect outcomes keep the showcase useful rather than turning it into a simple highlight reel.
