That small compromise gives the demonstration a useful purpose beyond showcasing another futuristic prototype: it tests whether eliminating the last visible bezel actually makes a phone better to use.

The historical setup gives that question helpful context. The presentation traces the industry’s pursuit of higher screen-to-body ratios through Xiaomi’s Mi Mix line, Samsung-style curved displays and the wraparound screen of the Mi Mix Alpha, before noting the practical drawbacks associated with aggressively curved edges.
