The crayon-and-yarn art trick produces one of the more satisfying investigations because the initial failure prompts a closer examination of the source clip. After trying to transfer crayon pigment onto matching strands of yarn, the host concludes that the method cannot create the elaborate artwork shown. She then rewatches the clip and points to what she believes is a hidden second sheet of paper being substituted for the supposed result. That observation makes the segment more useful than simply declaring the hack fake, although the deception claim is still based on her visual interpretation rather than independent confirmation.

Other tests benefit from being quick and directly observable.
