The Worst GPU is Now the Best GPU?

The most useful part of this pricing update is its unusually broad view of the market. Rather than treating US prices as representative of everyone, the comparison tracks the cheapest available cards across ten countries and measures July 2026 against both April and the lower prices seen in November 2025. The explanation of the “true MSRP” calculation also gives the regional comparisons a consistent baseline by converting advertised US launch prices and accounting for local taxes. That methodology makes differences such as relatively favorable Australian pricing and greater inflation in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom more meaningful than a collection of isolated retailer prices.

The strangest result is the rehabilitation, at least comparatively, of the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. The video remains critical of an expensive card limited to 8GB of VRAM, but its roughly 5% price decline since April changes the competitive picture. With the average premium over the RTX 5060 shrinking to 16% while the channel's testing puts the performance advantage at 17% at 1080p, the 5060 Ti becomes easier to justify within Nvidia's current mainstream lineup. The comparison becomes even more striking against AMD's RX 9060 XT 8GB: with AMD pricing rising while the Nvidia card falls, the two can cost essentially the same in several markets despite the Radeon model being positioned considerably cheaper at MSRP.

The analysis is equally effective when additional VRAM changes the economics. The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is presented as especially unattractive in the United States at $570, while Nvidia's other 16GB models—the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080—remain around 20% above their calculated launch-price baselines across the surveyed markets. By contrast, the RX 9060 XT 16GB retains a sizable price advantage over its Nvidia counterpart, and the RX 9070 and 9070 XT have remained comparatively stable. The reported 42% average premium for the 5070 Ti over the 9070 XT is particularly useful because it turns general complaints about GPU inflation into a concrete competitive comparison.

Not every product benefits from such careful qualification. The RTX 5090 is an obvious outlier, climbing another 12% since April and reaching nearly double the video's true-MSRP metric, while Intel's B570 and B580 are becoming harder to find and more expensive. The RX 9070 GRE receives an especially straightforward dismissal: according to the figures presented, it averages only 6% less than the RX 9070 despite being 17% slower and having less VRAM. These examples keep the update focused on purchasing value rather than merely cataloguing price movements, while the decision to exclude the extreme 5090 from the country inflation comparison prevents one unusual product from distorting the broader gaming market.

The overall market picture is more nuanced than the crisis framing might suggest. Despite dramatically higher memory costs cited in the video, GPU prices have apparently risen much less severely: the presented average is 16% above true MSRP across the tracked cards, falling to 10% when the RTX 5090 is removed, while April-to-July movement is essentially flat without that card. This distinction between an expensive market and a rapidly worsening one is important. The presentation also identifies clear patterns within that average, particularly the greater pressure on higher-VRAM Nvidia cards and the relative resilience of the RTX 5070 and AMD's RX 9070 series.

The weaker portion comes when the update shifts from measured retail prices to forecasting what happens next. Reports of Nvidia increasing GPU-and-memory bundle costs, retailers supposedly paying 10–15% more for 16GB GeForce inventory, and AIB suggestions of potential future increases as high as 40% are explicitly framed as rumors, retailer discussions, or indications rather than established retail outcomes. That distinction helps, but these claims still underpin the recommendation that buyers who genuinely need a GPU should purchase sooner rather than later. The video sensibly tempers that advice by telling owners of adequate hardware to wait for a future generation, yet the future-pricing argument necessarily rests on information that cannot be validated by the retail data presented here.

As a presentation, this is dense but disciplined. Moving through Nvidia, AMD, Intel, regional inflation, market-wide trends, and buying advice gives a large dataset a logical progression, while percentage gaps and comparisons between competing cards make the numbers actionable. The opening sponsorship delays the analysis, and the closing Patreon promotion adds another interruption, but neither overwhelms the substantial pricing discussion. More importantly, the video does not turn every price drop into a recommendation: a previously poor product can become relatively attractive because competing options deteriorated, which is exactly the uncomfortable reality this update captures.

The current pricing evidence is broad and well contextualized, while the outlook becomes less certain once retailer reports and future cost predictions enter the argument. As a snapshot of a distorted international GPU market, however, the analysis is detailed, practical, and appropriately willing to conclude that sometimes the newly attractive option is simply the one that became less bad.
